What we buy
Ceramic and metallic converters from cars, vans and trucks, diesel particulate filters (DPF/FAP), loose monoliths and broken ceramic.

Buying · Used converters, particulate filters, monoliths
Every vehicle catalytic converter contains platinum, palladium or rhodium – often only a few grams, but at prices quoted in euro per ounce. Tux Tap buys used converters, monoliths and particulate filters from workshops, dismantlers and private sellers, and values every piece by type, condition and the price of the day. In writing, traceable, paid by bank transfer.
At a glance
Ceramic and metallic converters from cars, vans and trucks, diesel particulate filters (DPF/FAP), loose monoliths and broken ceramic.
By manufacturer number, design, weight and the condition of the monolith – larger lots by laboratory assay on request.
Garages, exhaust centres, car dismantlers and scrap dealers – and private sellers with single pieces.
Photos, the number on the shell, the approximate quantity and your location. Nothing more is needed for a first estimate.

Background
A catalytic converter turns harmful exhaust gases into less harmful ones. To do so, the honeycomb inside – the monolith – is coated with a very thin layer containing platinum, palladium and rhodium. Petrol engines rely mainly on palladium and rhodium, diesel oxidation catalysts mainly on platinum and palladium.
How much precious metal a piece contains depends on the vehicle, the year and the manufacturer. Original parts (OEM) usually carry far more metal than aftermarket replacements. That is why we ask for the number on the shell and for photos – and why two converters that look alike can fetch very different prices.
Recycling closes the loop: the metals are recovered in specialised refineries and used again in new converters, in electronics or in medical technology. For you this means that a part which would otherwise be sold as mixed scrap is paid for according to its actual metal value.
The value is not in the steel, but in a very thin layer inside.
Metal prices
No two converters are alike. These six points decide the offer – and which details we need from you.
All categories we buyIdentifies the type and its usual precious metal loading. The single most important detail.
Ceramic substrates are usually the most valuable; metallic substrates and particulate filters are valued differently.
Complete, broken, melted or empty – missing ceramic means missing metal.
Aftermarket converters usually contain only a fraction of the precious metal of an original.
Market prices in euro determine the value of the contained metals on the day of the offer.
Larger lots can be settled after sampling and laboratory assay.
For businesses
That depends on the type, the condition of the monolith and the daily price of platinum, palladium and rhodium. Send us photos and the number on the shell – and we will give you a concrete price range.
Because precious metal prices change every day and two similar converters can contain very different amounts of metal. A list would be outdated the next day. Instead, you receive a written offer with a date.
Aftermarket converters are replacement parts from the accessories trade. They usually meet the emission standard with much less precious metal than an original part. We still buy them – but at a correspondingly lower price.
Yes. Some filters are coated with platinum and have real metal value, others hardly any. From the number we can tell you honestly what to expect.
Three pictures and – if legible – the number on the shell are enough for a first estimate. We reply in writing, usually within one working day.
